A "listed" building is one of special architectural
or historic interest which is "listed" by the Secretary of State. Buildings are classified in grades according to their importance:

• Grade I - Buildings of exceptional interest
• Grade II* - Buildings of more than special interest
• Grade II - Buildings of special interest

When a building is listed, all of the interior, exterior and any object within the grounds of the building are included.
